Gabriele Gravina has promised to focus on youth development ahead of being elected as FIGC President.

Gravina will be confirmed as the new man at the FIGC’s helm on Monday afternoon, and the 65-year-old spoke of his honour at taking on the role, which is ‘the completion of a human and sporting path’.

“It marks the completion of a human and sporting path, made possible by those who have accompanied me over the years,” said the former Lega Pro chief.

“I thank these distinguished guests and those who have accompanied me on this journey. Now we must give our best, show bravery to overcome obstacles and put our ideas and skills at our football’s disposal.

“We’re the first language of children and the language of those who don’t speak our own language.

“With this sense of responsibility, we must start over for what can be a magnificent spell for Italian football.

“I want football for young people, which isn’t gender-sensitive, with rules in place, played in functional set-ups, which are attentive to technology, and the recovery of our national team.

“We must work as a team, with respect for our roles. Football isn’t played alone. We need a revival that starts from the attitude of listening to everyone.

“We’ve shown resilience this year.”
